Third Year Of Double-Digit Growth For GE Auto Warranty Services 2006 Enhancements Include More Competitive Pricing

LAKEWOOD, COLO. -- January 5, 2006 -- GE Consumer Finance today announced that Driven by 18 percent growth in service contract volume and continued strong underwriting results, GE Auto Warranty Services delivered another year of record results for growth and profitability in 2005.

“Significant growth in our agent and dealer base, and the addition of two new strategic partners, produced solid growth for the company across both our auto and power sports service contract programs,” said Jim Slavik, president of GE Auto Warranty Services.

Continuous focus on industry-leading technology helped drive the third straight year of double-digit productivity, Slavik said. In 2005, AWS clients conducted more than 90 percent of their business electronically - a record for the business - for such processes as contract submission, claims submission and reporting.

“Our technology has really changed the game both for AWS and our customers in just three years,” said George Godfrey, sales leader for GE Auto Warranty Services. “In the old manual system, contracts were submitted on paper and errors were all too common. But the error rate on new contracts submitted online has been less than 2 percent. The online system saves a lot of time, money and aggravation for our agents and dealers.”

GE Auto Warranty Services is expecting even greater growth in the new year. “We are reducing prices across the board in 2006 due to our strong underwriting disciplines,” Godfrey said. “We also have enhanced our coverage and updated our contracts. Agents and dealers will like what they see in our new products and services.”
